Deleting photos from iPod touch

How to delete photos from iPod touch? You tried every single menu on your iPod, tried every trick in the book but it just doesn’t work? Yes, it’s easy to delete videos, but for some reason you can’t do anything about photos.
But don’t worry, it’s easy to do. We need to understand how the photos are uploaded to your iPod in the first place, then you’ll know how to remove them. (Windows users, please read on)
Let say I want to upload some photos I took last week at the ABC Centre. I connect my camera to my Mac, download photos to iPhoto and then create a folder, or a smart folder, called ABC Centre. I have total of 180 pictures, but I want only 52 of them on my iPod. I go to Photos, I select the 52 ones I want and drag them to the ABC Centre folder.

It is important to understand at this point that the folder ABC Centre is not really a file folder, it’s only the collection of the shortcuts to the real photos, just like iTunes play lists are. Keep this in mind for later.
Now that I have my pictures in ABC folder, I plug in my iPod touch and iTunes opens. On the left side I click on iPod, then select Photos in the right pane.

Now I need to check Sync photos from iPhoto (or Aperture) and Selected albums. Then I finally select the album that I want to sync with my iPod - good guess, ABC Centre. Finally I click the Sync button on the bottom right and in a few seconds I have these 52 photos on my iPod.
If we want to delete some of these photos from the iPod, we do just the opposite - we go to iPhoto, go to the ABC Centre folder and remove the photos we don’t want on our iPod, then synchronise. That’s it.
By removing the photos from the album, we have only removed the shortcuts to the real photos. so they won’t disappear from your computer. You already knew that when I mentioned “it’s just like iTunes play lists”, didn’t you?
What about our Windows friends? It’s about the same process. Only they don’t have the luxury of iPhoto, but My Documents\My Photos will do just fine. The only difference is that they need to create a folder and copy the photos to the folder to be synchronised.
Important note: Once you remove the photos from the folder in Windows, they will be deleted. Therefore, when creating a folder to be synchronised, don’t move the photos, copy them.
