WordPress 2.2 released

WordPress 2.2 has been officially released earlier today. Apart from over 200 security fixes, these are the most notable changes and improvements:
- WordPress Widgets allow you to easily rearrange and customize areas of your weblog (usually sidebars) with drag-and-drop simplicity.
- Full Atom support, including Atom feeds 1.0 and implementation of the Atom Publishing API.
- A new Blogger importer that handles the latest version of Blogger and imports posts and comments without any user interaction.
- Improvements to comment management - infinite comment stream
- Protection against activation of corrupted or broken plugins
- Core plugin and filter speed optimizations making WordPress a bit more snappy and lighter on the server.
- Base for WYSIWYG support in a future version of Safari.
