I use windows alot and i have to agree, Its glitchy, counter intuitive and i usually find myself WASTING TIME with it. However being a network engineer I hate to say I use it alot. You say you wont go to Vista till SP4? I say ditch MS altogether and learn linux or go Mac, I just wish the rest of the world would follow suit....... Windows is installed too often...... ah thats better.....

Mike,

I can relate.

After years of Mac use (started with a Mac Plus in 1988) I switched to PC's in an effort to save some money. Recently, after the death of a second HP Pavilion within 5 years (2 IN FIVE YEARS!), I switched back. Now a 20" iMac Intel with a second monitor (19" HP LCD) graces my desk.

Nice.

My move back was smooth, but I did have to make a couple of adjustments.

- Blogging software: I searched for days and couldn't find blogging software comparable to what I used on the PC. I settled for Ecto, which is a strong program for post management, but has some bugs. It's usable as long as as I stay in HTML mode. Switching from HTML to Rich Text does funny things to some of the code. I didn't have that problem with my PC editor.

- Screen capture: On the PC, I was using a little utility called FastStone Capture that was great... and free. I haven't found anything comparabe on the Mac. I have settled on a utility called FlySketch (Flying Meat software), but it costs $24.95. I like free!

Overall, though, I'm glad I changed back. On the Mac, things just work.

Any time I'm tempted to "save some money," I'll try to remember the "Frustration Tax" I paid for using Windows. My time is worth too much to spend it on Windows eccentricities.
