Applications folder in Leopard Dock

Wed, 7 November 2007

While Stacks are cool and easy to use, many Mac users feel robbed by not having an option of Applications folder being placed in the Dock. This is where Ross Carter comes to the rescue.

Ross has put his heart, soul, brain and, of course, his fingers to work together, and came up with an application that sits in Dock and provides the content of Applications folder, just like it used to be in Tiger and earlier OS X versions.

Sounds interesting? Head over to Ross’ website and download the DockAppsMenu to try it yourself.

  1. I simply dragged the app folder to the leopard dock and it works…………

  2. Yes, there’s no need of an application, you can drop any folder you want in the dock include the app folder ^^.

  3. Make an alias of the application folder or your documents folder and they work just like Tiger.

  4. I have been adding folders of applications in groups, such as iLife Apps, Adobe apps, Internet Apps, Chat Apps, iWork and so on. That way I can get to a group of apps quickly. I also found Apple Box icons for folders, so I have a stack of folders that look like an arc of boxes popping out of the dock.

  5. Nice find. Thanks. I assume this app also just scrolls like butter!

  6. OK guys, stop snarking and actually go check out what he is trying to do. It is a bit more than just dragging the Apps folder to the Dock.

  7. use Butler and put a dropdown list in your menu bar of all your apps. I use this all the time and you can adjust the font and whatnot. butler is way cool.
