Network Ten to offer program downloads
Wed, 6 December 2006
Australian Network Ten will begin making entire television programs available for download immediately after they air from early in the new year.
The new service is part of a revamp of the network’s online presence which will kick off in February.
Ten’s relaunched website, http://www.ten.com.au, will include over 50 sub-sites for each of its individual programs with the aim of building up communities around the shows and download content.
It is still to be determined whether the full episode downloads would be advertiser-driven or a pay-per-episode proposition.

It is clear that Ten is taking the lead in the digital battlefield. Just last week, they started broadcasting in full 1080i (1920×1080@30Hz) instead of 1440×1080i (still used by Channel Nine, btw, Seven is using measly 576p, ABC and SBS HD programs are virtually non-existent).
Also next year, Rugby World Cup and AFL games will be in HD, can’t wait for that. Good on you Channel Ten…
