Actually, if you choose to purchase Crossover, it runs most PC programs on my mac mini rather well. Even some games run on it! Plus theres cider ports for most pc games that people can use to play them on macs. Of course, a graphics card upgrade will be necessary for new games, but same for pcs. Overall, though i dont hate pcs, i definately prefer mac.

I liked the article, but you are sadly mistaken on one issue. There ARE virus for the Mac, granted they're are very few and rare. There was recently a virus that transited thru iChat and another more recent one that was disguised as a Poker app that used social engineering to get your Admin password and then installed a keylogger on the system

I work with macs and pcs EVERYDAY. The point: both do the same f'ing thing. THE SAME CRAP....just different keys you have to press. I have owned three macs now and each of them (yes even OS X) crashes quite frequently. Furthermore, because the world is designed for PCs, websites usually don't load correctly when using a mac....the mac browser, Safari, sucks really bad. I use firefox. As far as all this crap about people saying macs are the prime choice for music and video artists...its true. Do you know why? Because those people are just like your typical "macs are better than pcs" people: Snotty. The video/picture/music software macs come with are o.k...but if you need to do professional work, you need to buy another program. You will have the same, but more, choices if working with a PC. All in all mac=pc, but with me the pc wins because there are more software choices AND compatibility with hardware, websites, etc is not a problem.

@Paul

1. You mean if you use Windows, you'll have to: highlight text -> Ctrl+C -> Open Notepad ( Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Notepad) -> Ctrl+V -> File|Save -> Choose place and name -> Close Notepad..... right? You don't have to save your text in the Desktop if you are using Mac, you can always drag the text to somewhere else (Mail.app, TextEdit or even Finder -- Windows Explorer for you Windows fanboys). Note: The drag-and-drop thing works with Linux too :D

2. PCs bring you lots of joy and "flexibility" right? A new error every day. You'll deal with them right? Macs are boring, because you'll just open it up, do your work, then close it. No error, no crash.... Just works. That's boring.

Mac Versus PC = Nothing more than a trade-off war.

1- "Are Mac computers easy to use" -> I'm sorry but I find the argument used in this point is but a mere specific example used out of context and obviously luxuriously developped. Here's my version for windows: highlight text -> ctrl+C. Done. Why would I want to save text to my desktop in the firstplace? Besides, simplicity is always a substitute for power. Trade simplicity for power.

2- Remember: Aside from who has what small side feature and easthetics, it really comes down to this rule: pick a mac if your needs are for something clean and robust, pick a PC if you need flexibility in what you do. And keep in mind, the irony of the fact is, a lot of mac's benifits over PC are there only because less people use them (e.g. less efficient target for a virus). If everyone switched to mac, then mac looses it's benefits over PC...

Otherwise, some good points summed up as far as cost and game compatibility goes.

Michael Tourigny: You are very much mistaken. There are NO viruses for MacOS X.

There are vulnerabilities for any OS. Apple keeps on top of those issues security updates quickly. A vulnerability is not the same as a virus or exploit. It simply means that it might be possible to do something malicious, not that someone has figured out how.

By its architecture, MacOS X doesn’t favor vulnerabilities; none are inherent in its design. In contrast, by its architecture, XP has vulnerabilities which are innate and cannot be closed.
