> is not Microsoft’s fault: it’s the virus creators.

LOL - that's real funny. Microsoft is like three supertankers in tow when it comes to making changes in their code to plug all those open ports and vulnerabilities in legacy code. Nothing but a rewrite from scratch can fix it, but they are so used to exploiting the holes themselves that they can't plug them without reducing functionality.

well another iFanboy. Ok i agree that it is stupid, but microsoft cas no choice. They are in a no win situation:

1: they fix the virus problem and put themselves in a perfect situation for an anti-trust suit. they would have just eliminated the entire pc safety market, something that, because they are microsoft is even more of a touchy subject.

2: they do nothing to remain legal, but get blamed for an os that has viruses that they cant legally improve.

I remember MaxPC listing new features in beta 1 and anti-virus was one of them along with an imporved firewall. why would they have been taken out?

Whether or not people realize it, the fact that there are viruses out there in the world is not Microsoft's fault: it's the virus creators. Sure, people are always talking about how the Mac doesn't get any viruses, but part of that is because nobody targets the Mac.

Nothing is perfect: Computers and software are no exception. Just know that Microsoft isn't all to blame for this.

(and by the way, almost every EULA has some kind of text in there that says the company isn't responsible for anything that happens to your computer)
