Another MacBook Pro problem - Battery !
Thu, 4 May 2006
After all the problems MacBook Pro owners have been experiencing since its release, there seem to be another one on the horizon. It might be a storm in a teacup, but a brief look at Apple Support Forum indicates number of users experiencing strange battery issues. Several web sites also report possible issue with MacBook Pro battery.
When fully charged, battery shows 100% but once it goes down to about 90% the computer suddenly shuts down. The battery indicator (on the battery itself) shows only one light flashing or no lights at all and computer remains dead until connected to a power adapter.
This seems to be affecting only early models with serial numbers W8608… and earlier. See PowerPage for details on serial numbers. Models with serial number W8609… and later don’t have this problem, fingers crossed.
A few users also report that they contacted Apple and had the battery replaced.
