Mac is boring

Apple computers are boring. No ? Well, I think they are. You turn one on and you do what you wanted to do, it’s always the same, it just works. Just plain boring.

On the other hand, if you had a PC laptop running Windows your life is very colourfull and exciting. You turn it on and there is something new every day. A new virus, a new trojan, a funny error message … no end.

You spend days and days in support forums, you update anything and everything day in and day out, you tweak the registry and know it better than the inside of your left ear. And things just keep coming. And let’s not forget all that beautiful software you need to install, update and tweak daily just to keep your PC running.

But one of the most important things is an almost accidental impact of Windows on your professional career. You will install Windows so many times over the life of your PC that you will become very experienced, and you can even put it in your resume “Installation of Windows 9x, ME, 2k, XP on a weekly basis…”

Even when your girlfriend, after being stood up six times this month, gives you a boot, you will live your life knowing that she has made the sacrifice for the advancement of technology.

Now, if you ask people who had a Mac computer for several years, how many times have they installed OS X, most of them are the real dummies, they’ve never done it. They’re just unemployable in IT sector, they’re mentally rusty. They are barely aware what an error message is, they don’t know how to handle the crisis, they’re just dumb.

So if you want to join the team of those boring anti-geeks, who don’t know how to reboot four times a day, then go ahead and buy a Mac. But remember, you’ve been warned!

  2. Great post:-) Funny, and very true.

  3. Yeah I spend all my time installing windows. I must have done it, ooh, once since I bought my PC 2 years ago. I did spend an hour scouring the web to find out how to add a WEP encryption key to my friends iBook though (you need a $ preprended to make it store the key btw). So you’re right – Macs are very very boring, whereas my PC lets me do my job.

ps. If you stand up your girlfriend to fix your PC then your problem is far more obvious than your choice of computer!

  4. Actually this post is quite true. I used to use Windows and then Linux before getting a Macbook. I had been if not a computer guru then an advanced user. I would fix up computers for friends and family (usually this meant reinstalling Windows). The sad part is as frustrating as all this work was it was sort of enjoyable. I felt some pleasure in finding out how to get a wireless card to work or network printing on my parents’ Windows machine, much as how one enjoys solving puzzles. Now my computer works _too_ well. I keep looking for stuff I can upgrade or new software to play with but I just don’t _need_ to. I love my Macbook and it’s the best computer I’ve ever owned but it’s boring and sometimes I miss Windows and Linux.

  5. MacandpcOwner

    Yeah your 100% WRONG….

Woops!!! did I say that to a left wing bias Mac user???

I’m going to hell. But, the truth is I own a mac pro 2.66 and I own a SLI nvidia driven PC with XP

The deal is my PC and my mac both run very well. I dont have problems with either.
It all depends on what you’re doing. if you scanning for porn all night with yahoo messenger open playing a crappy Wild Tangent game yeah your PC is going to be retarded.

but then again if you don’t have $500.00 bucks to buy ram with for the mac, your mac is going to run like crap, I have owned a G4 G5 and now a mac pro. They all have their problems. and don’t get me started on the initial problems with the Intel processors…. oh and on that note, further more, and by the way… owned.

    eraseism you computer manufacturer racist

  6. I agree 100% this is genius

  7. The only reason to buy a Mac is for aesthetic reasons. They’re no different than any other computer. I mean, they use the same friggin hardware. The front-end operating system itself is terrible given that it’s way too restrictive. It’s no wonder you can’t screw the system up…you can’t do anything to begin with. When you’re forced to rely on lost OEM recovery discs to reformat the computer, Apple will extort you in order to get it fixed. $50 dollars for a tech call? $300 to extend the warranty? Give me a break! Even after that you can’t guarantee they won’t charge you for new discs. Beyond the success of their money making scheme, their software products are terrible.

And for all you idiots who believe PC = Windows…why don’t you argue your points to someone who uses Linux? You’ll be shot down. PC = freedom. Mac = rubber band around your nuts.

  8. Well, that and… most of the greatest games can’t run on macs.. so…

  9. Mac is boring. I’ve seen very few people use it. Too bad windows is better and popular especially for educational purposes like IT.
I haven’t seen many applications/softwares for mac on the internet.
At least i get to play my favourite games on Windows other than Mac because Mac won’t support most of my games.
Anyways, no need to be rude here. If you are jelous then go comment somewhere else and not here in this forum. Cause we are all windows fans.
