Just got a Wii

Got a Wii today and writing this article on it. It is a bit slow, but it can be easily done. Going over to computer now.

10 minutes later… on Mac now.

We were driving to Gold Coast today with kids, and my wife wanted to buy some grapes before getting to the beach, so we turned off to a new shopping centre in Helensvale. After getting some fruit and driks, walking by Target I thought - let’s drop in and see if they’ve got any Nintendo Wiis.

Knowing well you can’t buy a Wii anywhere in Australia at the moment, and reading what-a-waste-of-time off my wife’s face, we walked in straight to the CE department. I asked the guy if they had any Wiis in stock and he said - Sure do, got three of ‘em half an hour ago. My wife and I just looked at each other - what the …???

We even negotiated the price a little and got it for (AU) $389, including some WiiMote accessories (for Tennis, Baseball and Golf), it normally would cost about $419 or so. The manager was there and she was a very nice lady, very happy to do the price. She said they just received these three units and she has no idea why. They have expected them well past the Christmas and it was weird as they never get any stock Saturdays.

I played a few games that were included and Tennis is really cool. One thing I’d suggest, when playing these things, get at least some socks on, otherwise you’ll end up with the carpet blisters on your feet. I’ve just learned this, the hard way, of course. Ouch!

The moment I hooked it up I knew it was going to be fun. I was just setting the Miis and the kids were laughing through the roof when picking the characters.

They’re in bed now, so I downloaded the Wii browser (Opera) and got to check my email and start this article on it. Very cool stuff.

Tomorrow is the day to find some new games, mostly some kids stuff as I’m supposed to stay away from it … I guess.
