I hope someone can help... I have yet to get on the internet with the WL-167G

Installing on eMac with 10.4.10. USBWirelessUtility sees the device and several networks. The one with the strongest signal is open (no encryption) have 95-100% on link quality and 65% on Signal Strength.

System Pref's -> Network gives me a yellow light for "Ethernet Adaptor (en1)" and says self-assigned IP address. Go to Configure and it shows a DHCP got an IP address (changes each time I unplug and re-plug in the ASUS) so I know I'm communicating with a router or server giving me a DHCP IP address.

Internet Connect may or may not have it as an option under Network Port. When it does, it takes a minute or two to connect.

At that point, Safari and Firefox say I'm not connected to the internet.

Maybe I'm going about the connection process all wrong. Any help ???

G'day all. I'm having the same problem as Ben with the drop-outs... it works great (I'm installing the WL-167G on an iBook G3) and it browses the internet... then it just stop communicating for a random bit of time. Looking though the USB Wireless Utility shows the CRC errors on packets jumping though the roof... then it'll start working again randomly. (sometimes 30 seconds, sometimes 10 mins later) Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? It's driving me nuts! Thanks! :-)

Hi there, i've tried this Asus USB Dongle after your suggestion and have found it to drop out after about 30sec. Any suggestions to make it stop disconnecting?
Cheers.

Good job mate, I was wondering how third party adapters would work on the Mac. This is a good example that you can get a cheap one for 1/4 of the money Apple ask you to pay but the only downside is that you lose a USB port (nothing a hub can't fix).
I'm in the market for wireless router and mabe an adaper for the mini. Any recommendations for the router. My personal favourites so far are Belkin (less features but cheap) and Lynksis (lots of features, expensive).
